Hey everyone! This blog post is on #plasticfreejuly which we should be trying to reduce our plastic everyday, however this is a whole month dedicated to this! Which is super exciting, if you learn some next tips and tricks hopefully you can commit these throughout the year.
You see it is all about habits. Habits only stick when it is something that matters to you. I am not here to tell you what to do, but trying to reduce plastic should matter to you. The world is on fire, it is heating up at alarming rates and we seriously need to change our habits now. Literally if everyone does just a little something everyday, it MATTERS.
So, now that the deepness is out of the way, lets get to some of the basics of #plasticfreejuly…well first….everyone make a pledge and pledge to use less single use plastic in July. Write it down and put it on your desk at work, your fridge at home, your mirror to remind you every morning. Anyone can get involved…even the kids! There is no right or wrong way, big or small it all matters.
Here’s what you can do!
- Bring your own shopping bags
- Find plastic free alternative when you buy fruits and veggies
- Skip the straw of BYOS (bring you own staw)
- Bring reusable coffee cups (hot or iced)
- Ditch the plastic water bottles (saves money over time too!)
- If possible, bring your own Tupperware for takeout containers
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYLE
Already doing all that? Well great! Now, let us get creative.
- Avoid plastic bin liners
- Use reusable teabags
- Find different ways to store food without plastic cling wrap (beeswax wraps are great!)
- Bring your own cutlery
- Try washable diapers
Let’s be part of the solution, not part of the problem. 🙂 If people start questioning why you are doing this, it is a perfect opportunity to open up a conversation about the impact that plastic has on our Earth.
